Teens using drugs. 
  • NIDA’s 2012 Monitoring the Future Survey showed that about 11% of 8th graders, 28% of 10th graders, and 36% of 12th graders had abused marijuana at least once in the year prior to being surveyed. Congratulations to all the other teens making healthy choices!
  • 6.5% of high school seniors smoke pot daily, up from 5.1% five years ago. Meanwhile, less than 20% of 12th graders think occasional use is harmful, while less than 40% see regular use as harmful
  • 60% of seniors don't see regular marijana use as harmful

The most common drug used by teens?
  • Marijuana, more than a quarter of 10th graders say they have tried it in the past year
  • Alcohol is also one of the major drugs consumed by teens illegally.
